The area of Bezengi is considered to be "the heart" of the Caucasus. The highest mountains and the largest glaciers of the Caucasus are concentrated here. Our tour will take place among these giants and is destined for the fit people experienced in mountain hiking tours. The route has a mountaineering part of 1B level of complexity. Trekking and hiking 6-8 hours per day. Apart from hiking among the breathtaking mountain landscapes, you will get acquainted with the culture of the Balkar - the hospitable people with a centuries-old history.

What's the plan?
Day 1
Meeting in Mineralnye vody. Transfer to the mountain camp Bezengi which is situated on the crossing of two gorges leading to the Northern Massif and the well-known Bezengi wall - to the highest part of the Main Caucasian Ridge. Accommodation and visit to the Balkar Museum.
Day 2
Hiking route: Bezengi Mountain Camp – Popovskiye nochyovki (encampments) - Mizhirgi glacier - Bezengi Mountain Camp. We will face the Northern Massif in all its beauty topped with three 5 000 metres high mounts: Dykhtau, Koshtantau and Mizhirgi.
Day 3
Route: Bezengi Mountain Camp - Dumalinskoye gorge - an ancient wall on Kyuchmezsu - Bezengi Mountain Camp. Short transfer to the gorge of the Dumala River. Then hiking along the mountain path upwards with 700 metres ascend to the small river called Kyuchmezsu and climbing to the wall.
Day 4
Route: Hiking to Ukyu gorge Tyoply Ugol (Warm Corner). Climbing by the left-side moraine of the Kundyum-Mizhirgi glacier we reach the turn to Ukyu gorge which is better known as Tyoply Ugol (Warm Corner). This place is called The Warm Corner because the sun which is sets behind the tops of the Kargashilsky Ridge shines to the bitter end.
Day 5
Today is the day of rest after a hard route of the last day. Walks in the neighborhood. Seeing waterfalls. Russian bath (sauna).
Day 6
Route: Bezengi Mountain Camp – Kursantskiye nochyovki - Mizhirgi glacier - Bezengi Mountain Camp Hiking to the glacier Mizhirgi on its left. We will see the Northern Massif from another side of the glacier and, probably, we will be able to climb above the glacier. On the way, we will pass by the place called Kursantskiye nochyovki (3200 m), we will approach to the heart-shaped lake under Brno Peak.
Day 7
Route: Bezengi Mountain Camp - the Baran-kosh (2 600 m).Today we are leaving our mountain camp for the 2 days tour to the Bezengi wall. Climbing to Lake Barankosh on the right-side moraine of the Bezengi glacier. Putting up tents, relax. Dinner by the fire.
Day 8
Radial route: Baran-Kosh - Dzhangi-Kosh (3200 m) - Baran-Kosh. We only take light rucksacks with warm clothes and snacks. The Bezengi wall is waiting for us. We will see the well-known tops of the Caucasus - Shkhara, Shota Rustavely Peak, Katyntau, Dzhangitau. Return to the Baran-kosh.
Day 9
Route: Baran-Kosh - Bezengi mountain camp. Today you will be able to relax and warm yourself in the bath (sauna). Closing dinner - tomorrow we are leaving Bezengi.
Day 10
Trip to Chegem gorge by 4х4 all-wheel drive car. Hiking in the neighborhood of Eltyubyu. Seeing ancient Balkar towers - «the city of the dead». A unique chance to fly on the paraglider in the Caucasus mountains (extra pay). Accommodation in the Balkar guest house in Bulungu settlement. We will be met by a hospitable mistress. She will cook a magnificent dinner composed of traditional local dishes and will tell about a modern life of Balkar people. NB: A trip to the Chegem Gorge can be replaced with a trip to the Verkhnyaya Balkariya village.
Day 11
Transfer to Pyatigorsk. On the way: visiting the Chegem waterfalls. Evening sightseeing walking in Pyatigorsk. You can rise to Mashuk Mount by cable car and enjoy a view to Elbrus in good weather. Dinner at the restaurant of Caucasian cuisine. Accommodation at the hotel.
Day 12
Transfer to the airport of Mineralnye Vody. Flight to Moscow.
